Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
